2005 Gary Fisher Ziggurat review

Posted By Jon

When shopping for my new mountain bike, I wanted to find the fastest, most advanced, and most reasonably priced race bike available. After researching numerous bike companies, the Gary Fisher Ziggurat landed on top. I am a former owner of a Trek Fuel 100, which is a full suspension race bike. I never fell in love with it, which is imperative in a new bike. The pedal bob and extra weight of the rear suspension made the bike too slow and unresponsive. I'm not trying to say full suspension is horrible, because it isn't, but full suspension isn't necessary for racing in the midwest.

I weighed in the Ziggurat at 23.6 pounds, which is very respectible for a mountain bike. The Ziggurat frame has the race proven Genesis style frame with carbon fiber seat and chain stays, which dampen a lot of the small vibrations and bumps on the trail. It comes from the factory with Srams top of the line XO components, tubeless compatable wheels, and a Fox RL 100 front shock. It is built to be a very competitive race bike, which it is. It climbs amazingly well compared to the Fuel and is extremily responsive in the corners. I recommend this bike for anyone who is looking for a great top of the line race bike at a reasonable price.
