Picture: Norfork Tailwater

Norfork Tailwater

Northern Arkansas

Activities: Fishing
Nearby: Mountain Home, AR
Length: ~4.5 miles
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Best Season: Spring Summer Fall Winter

One of our favorite tailwaters. The natural beauty and the water quality are great. Access for wade-fishing below the dam in the Corps of Engineer's Quarry Park is the best around. Easy to night fish from this point as well. The Norfork quickly flows into the White which creates quite an opportunity for healthy trout of all four Arkansas species. Access at the legendary McClellan's just below the dam is now closed. The impounded Lake Norfork on the other side of the dam has many hiking/fishing opportunities as well.

Directions

Starts two miles south of Salesville, AR on Highway 177 and joins the White River at the town of Norfork about twenty minutes south of Mountain Home
