The Bocomo Fondo is a gravel ride through parts of Boone and Howard Counties, Missouri on September 15, 2019. We’ll start and end the ride at The Station House at Katfish Katy’s along the Katy Trail. The route features some of our favorite gravel and paved roads in the region. Highlights include the “gravel highway” that is Wilhite Rd., the curvy Highway YY that leads to the equally curvy N Oak Grove School Rd., a ride through Rudolf Bennitt Conservation Area, the hidden, winding, and narrow Ridge Rd., wide open country gravel, and finally a leisurely jaunt along the Katy Trail before finishing at Katfish Katy’s.

At 80 miles, the Fondo can be daunting to some, but is worth it for the views alone. There is, however, a shorter 40 mile option available that follows the same start and finish of the longer course. It is recommended that you be self sufficient, but each route will have a follow vehicle should you need assistance. The 80 mile route will have a lunch stop at Bennitt Lake halfway through the ride where we’ll have water, snacks, and sandwiches. Gravel, cyclocross, and touring bikes are recommended as there are many rough gravel roads on the course.

This year all profits from registration will be going to the Columbia Parks and Recreation Bicycle Co-op. More information about the Bicycle Co-op can be found here.

The inspiration behind the ride was to explore new roads which have now become some of our favorites. We hope that you’ll share our fondness for this course and that it will inspire you to explore further. See you in September!
